Craig R. Maginness

Mr. Maginness has extensive real world experience in the development and implementation of international business strategies, export market entry, and the management of international operations.

As Director of International Sales & Marketing for an $800 million operating unit of a Fortune 1000 company, he opened up distribution for a variety of products in Argentina, Mexico, Japan, Taiwan, China and the Philippines, and established a manufacturing joint venture in China to protect the company’s export market share by providing locally based manufacturing capabilities without the capital investment or risk of an acquisition or greenfield startup.

As Director of International Operations for a $500 million operating unit of a Fortune 1000 company, he had full P&L responsibility for manufacturing operations in Latin America and Europe and developed the strategic footprint for manufacturing operations in China.

As General Manager of a $50 million division of a major corporation, he developed export market opportunities by overseeing the development of new products suited to particular foreign markets, created sales and distribution relationships in target markets abroad, and negotiated a tolled manufacturing agreement with a foreign based enterprise to provide a more competitive manufacturing location with more favorable logistics for serving key export opportunities.

Mr. Maginness has been a frequent speaker on international business development and management including a presentation on managing operations in China sponsored by the US Chamber of Commerce and a presentation on doing business in Japan sponsored by the Japanese Institute of Labor. He is the author of two chapters in ”A Handbook for Foreign Investors” published by the Colorado Office of International Trade. Mr. Maginness has also been a regular instructor on the Practical Aspects of Export Market Entry as part of the international trade certificate program offered through the Rocky Mountain World Trade Center Institute.

Mr. Maginness has served as the Chairman of the Board of the World Trade Center Denver, a trade association of companies and individuals engaged in international business. He has been a director of the WTC Denver for the past 10 years and also has served as the chair of the Trade Policy Council and the China Business Roundtable.

Mr. Maginness holds a bachelor’s degree from Dartmouth College and a law degree from Syracuse University. He completed his coursework for a master’s degree in economics, including the study of international trade theory, from the University of Colorado at Denver, and holds a certificate from the accelerated business management program at the Daniels College of Business, University of Denver.
